Culture Talk with Chris Conner

Sep 18, 2017

American Lutherans have embraced the historic episcopacy, the fanciful idea that bishops can transmit the power to be a pastor through his fingertips and that there can be no real ministry without the bishops magical transmission.  This strikes against the heart of the reformation and insists that Christ is not enough for our salvation and that God's power is bound by physicality and flesh.

Denominations like LCMC, Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ, subscribe to an even more pernicious form of this strange idea- a supernatural episcopacy that places men and disembodied utterances imagined from "the Lord" above Christ.
